Quarter Of Drivers Hiding Penalty Points From Insurer
Research from RAC Insurance shows 23% of motorists did not tell their insurer the last time they acquired points on their driving licence.
More concerning is that 18% of those questioned said they would not contact their policy provider if they picked up points, meaning the number facing severe penalties could be into the millions.
Official records show that approximately 2.8 million motorists hold points on their driving licences, which means at least 654,000 are potentially withholding information from their insurer.
Motorists need to remember that it is their duty to advise their insurer if anything occurs which may affect the contract they hold with them as and when it occurs - not just at renewal.
